USA Wake Surf Nationals missing camera

So we lost the stupid camera AGAIN! We had all the podium pictures from the USA Wake Surf Nationals, but of course have none to show you since we have zero images! We’ll try and recreate some of the info again, and we apologize for not having decent pictures to share.

Centurion team rider Keenan Flegel, who is from Florida, and his family brought their personal boat, a Centurion Enzo down to be used as the goofy boat. Keenan personally weighted his boat to perfection for the finals. Scott Culp brought his personal boat down to be used as the regular boat for the contest. The folks at Transition Water Sports provided most of the drivers and the jet skis.  Todd Gaughan team manager for Centurion and owner of Towanza did most of the duties behind the mic and Judy Walker, James mom, handle quite a bity of the dock organizing duties, Jackie Armstrong shared in there also.  Jon Baker, Brian Baker’s dad was the jet ski driver for most of the three days.  Centurion Team riders were littered all over the podium in their special blue Centurion T-shirts.  Only the women’s pro surf was missing one.

We found the camera! So we do have pictures!

The women’s pro skim went out first and there were great runs laid down by Caroline Villeneuve, Jaqualine Fort and Bri Chmel, with the order on the podium, as:

1) Bri Chmel
2) Jaqualine Fort
3) Caroline Villeneuve

The Men’s pro skim had the largest field of entrants with the entire Phase 5 team present. There were some changes to shift folks around and there is a new Outlaw class which is the better than amateur but not quite pro division. As expected the top three riders in the Pro Men’s Skim division were Keenan Flegel, Centurion Team Drew Danielo and Tige Dom Legace. Our own James Walker was seeded 4th in that division! Maybe if he practiced on a skimboard now and again, he’d podium!

We saw intesnse riding 3 shuv’s, back bigs, switch back bigs, 1080′s you name it and they were landed in the Pro Men’s skim.

The final podium was:

1) Keenan Flegel
2) Dom Legace
3) Drew Danielo

In the women’s pro surf, we saw the youngster Raleigh Hager battling it out against Jaqualine Fort and Ashley Kidd. Airs, 360′s and slashes were everywhere and the final podium placement was:

1) Ashley Kidd
2) Jaqualine Fort
3) Raliegh Hager

Going into the Men’s pro surf our own James Walker was seeded second. In Saturday’s contest, Keenan Flegel landed a combination shuv in and shuv out to edge James for first place seed. Chase Hazen was seeded third and went HUGE, but his almost patented air reverse escaped him. James run put him in a tight spot as he fell three times in a row, leaving him one one fall on the pass back. He had a 720, surface reverse, air 180′s and myraid grabbed airs and 360′s. But it was Keenan that really shone in the last 100 feet of his run, nailing down the shuv to shuv out and a back big. The podium was:

1) Keenan Flegel
2) James Walker
3) Chase Hazen

wake surf Finals 064

On the new outlaw class for Surf we only know that the young Zane Montgomery nailed down FIRST on his Inland Surfer Flyboy!

Finals 055

OH! We found the camera, so we’ll go back and insert those pictures now.

Thanks so much for following along and we all need a nap from getting up early and sitting in that Florida Heat here at the USA Wake Surf Nationals!
