Loreto Stop in the World Series of Wake Surfing

Have you heard?

Loreto

On May 10 and 11, 2013 the Loreto Stop of the World Series of Wakesurfing will be taking place in Loreto Mexico along the beautiful Sea of Cortez.

The 1st annual Mexico Wake Surf Championship (Loreto Stop) will be held in conjunction with the Loreto Baja Golf Resort. More details and registration to be posted soon. The Loreto Stop will be towed with the 2013 Supreme v226, the finest wakesurf boat currently manufactured! :) Ok we added that last part.

What’s the most boring thing in the world? Attending a wakesurf contest, that’s what. If you’re a rider, you get your 2 minute run and then well you’re done for that day. If the event is held at some mudhole, where you can’t escape the heat or boredom, you’d prefer to stab your eyes out!

This event, the first with factory backing for Supreme and the venerable V226, is going to be held at a world class resort; the Loreto Baja Golf Resort and Spa. SPPPPAAAAAAHHHHHH! Truly a splendid location and destination. Right? If you’re taking vacation time to attend a wakesurf event, wouldn’t you really rather go to a destination resort?

Take a moment and look at the pictures on the resorts webpage. It may take a minute to load, but most of the pictures are breathtaking.

Snorkeling, Kayaking, Sport Fishing, Golf, Scuba Diving, Sailing, Visit Coronado Island, Bird Watching, Hiking, Loreto Historic Center, visit the Misión de San Francisco Javier, the SPA and more!

As a true destination, this contest not only offers you the fellowship of wakesurfers from around the world, but other stuff too! Restaurants on site plus a snack shack, TV, wireless internet, air conditioning and wonderful views of the Sea of Cortez.

Also the Loreto Stop: Mexico Wake Surf Championship will follow the scoring guidance recommended by the Competitive Wake Surf Association, so you can rest assured it’s fair and consistent with all of the events in the World Wake Surfing Series and that scoring criteria was developed and agreed to by the concensus of organizers, not just pulled out of the air. Follow the link for the 2013 published scoring criteria.

the CWSA

Be sure to check the CWSA website for updates, as well as here on Flyboy Wakesurf.  Online registration for the event will be handled through the CWSA website.

Now the easiest way to get there is to fly into The Loreto International Airport.  There are daily flights from LAX and then a 20 minute shuttle that runs from the airport to the resort.  Here is a google rendering if you planned to rent a car and drive.  Click on the link at the bottom labeled as get Larger Map for the driving directions.  They are a little vague, so we would suggest you some street names when you make your reservations with the hotel.

Speaking of which, here is the website for the Resort (http://loretobaja.com) and the telephone number for the resort is  (888) 756 7386

Definately will be the most fun of all the stops in the World Wake Surfing Series and we’re sure you’ll see a concave deck wakesurf board or two there.

Also remember if you want to enter the WWSC and need to qualify for that event, the Loreto Stop: Mexico Wakesurf Championship is a qualifier! So come to paradise, 80 degree temperatures, the beach and loads of fun, while also qualifying for the WWSC!

Thanks so much for following along, we appreciate it.
